WebFeb 24, 2008 · I was recording to the HDD from CDs while the car was in the garage. The entire time the accessory power was on, this high pitch whine/tone was there. This went on for many hours while I was loading up the HDD with music. The noise stopped a minute or so after I was finished. And it has now for a few months, however in the past week or so the sound has gotten worse. What surprises me is that my laptop is not even a year old.
